Recycling Waste, Rebuilding Lives

The Association for the Protection of the Environment (APE) is an Egyptian NGO founded in 1984 in Manshiet Nasser, dedicated to improving lives through sustainable waste management.

APE provides access to health and education while empowering women through creative, income-generating work. In its workshops, women from underserved communities are trained to transform waste into handmade products such as accessories, bags, and other recycled items—turning discarded materials into meaningful, sellable products that support their livelihoods and independence.

By turning waste into opportunity, APE helps build a cleaner environment while creating real economic empowerment for women and stronger, more resilient communities across Egypt.
